best inkjet printer cost/value in Thailand ?

Hi,

I am in Thailand and while name-brand inkjet printer prices here are
comparable to American retail, inks and paper are more expensive.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on a printer in the under US $500 range
for the following scenario :

1. modal use : 75% print black and white text, 25% print single color
proofs up to 8.5 x 11" size or slightly less.

2. estimated number of pages per month : black and white text less than
100; color proofs less than 20.

3. speed of printing is not important compared to quality of printing.

4. many of the color proofs will be close ups of jewellery or metallic
surfaces.
