Antivirus:

If you want to pay for an AV program: Norton Antivirus 2004
(Mcafee, in my experience, reports A LOT of false positives.)
If you want to use a freeware virus scanner, wait for somebody else's
opinion.

Spyware (Use ALL of these):

Spybot Search & Destroy

Ad-Aware

Spyware Blaster

CWShredder (CoolWebSearch remover)

If you wan a reliable and light combination (not free) of programs, so
Outpost Pro is a very good firewall

and Nod32 www.nod32.com is considered one of world best AV-solutions
(this can be argued here for ages).

Another top notch Av to consider is Kaspersky AV
www.kasperskylabs.com.
A strong all in one solution is F-secure Internet security
www.f-secure.com

Do any of you have suggestions as to the best combination of software
packages to combat viruses, adware and spyware?

For the longest time I used a combination of:

- Trend Micro Internet Security (Antivirus)
- ZoneAlarm (Firewall)
- Ad Aware (Adware/Spyware)

After updating the antivirs package and ZoneAlarm, some compatibility issues
cropped up and I was unable to use the Trend Antivirus software with the
ZoneAlarm firewall.

I am not satisfied with using the firewall included with the Trend Antivirus
software and therefore am open to suggestions regarding a combination of
antivirus software with ZoneAlarm, my firewall program of choice.

It has also recently come to my attention that Ad Aware is not a
comprehensive solution to unwanted adware/spyware that make it onto my
computer. I have recently been supplementing that with Spybot. Is that a
good combination or are there better ones?

Thanks in advance.
