I will have to reinstall WinXP soon, time for a system cleanout, and was
wondering what the best performing Catalyst release for this card was.
Am running an ASUS P4T533 and have the newer ATI CD with MMC 8.xx. TIA

I'm running the 3.7 cats and MMC 8.5, with no problems

Thanks, Gordon. Right now I'm running 3.4 with 8.5 and was thinking of
using a newer set of drivers/MMC when I reinstall XP but I thought that the
latest Cat releases were aimed more toward the 9xxx series of cards and that
there might be a speed or compatibility advantage by using an older set.
Thoughts?

well,
every system is unique, so what might work for you might not for me.
that said, I stuck with the 2.x cats for the longest time, then tried a
few 3.x's
I installed the 3.8's the other day as well, Im not spending all my life
benchmarking, but i'm happy overall.
My last 3Dmark2001 was 8879 o/c 180x12.5
I use rage3d VPU clocked at core:250 memory:208

Using 3dmark 2001SE and Radeonator( which I like because it is so simple and
easy to bypass) O/C to 275/205, I get 8986 on CAT 3.4.
I think the 128M version of the Radeon 8500 runs 275/275, correct me if I am
wrong, so you can safely run it that high. If you have no stability or other
issues with 3.8, that's good news. I hate reinstalling ATI drivers because
so much can go wrong ;o)
