Would anyone happen to be able to recommend an all in one antivirus,
firewall, etc. that works with Vista well and doesnt have problems on the OS
and also runs without using a lot of memory? I have Norton 360 v2 and Iolo
System Mechanic 7 Pro, and i'm stuck on which or if either should be used on
Vista? Any suggestions?

For home use, there are many free anti-virus: AntiVir Personal, Avast
Home, AVG, ... And there is at least one free firewall called Comodo,
again for home use.

I know this is not really what you wanted to hear, but I think it has to be
mentioned. All-in-one security solutions are not the optimal way to handle
malware, rather you should pick good products in each category and compile
your own "suite" fitted to your needs. Security suites like Norton tend to
be bloated, bundled software, hogging system resources and including
functions you probably do not need.

The basics you have to have are a patched up OS, an anti-virus, an
additional anti-spyware scanner (you already have Windows Defender) and a
firewall (Vista's built inn fw will suffice for most home users). Enable
your router firewall if you have one, it makes an excellent first line of
defense.

Be careful about using registry cleaners. Performance improvement is hardly
noticeable, but the damage potential is rather impressive. If you are not a
pro, I suggest you do not use one altogether.

They both should work. Norton 360 is on Sony PC's with Vista so you know
it's compatible. But when the 60 day trial runs out a lot of people install
another virus and firewall and this is what causes problems.

You don't know if these progs are compatible. Even a big company like
ZoneAlarm took a while to come out with a Vista version. Only fools worry
about if something is free. Don't spend money on an OS or PC and then put
some free junk on it. Avast is very good but I think he should stay with
Norton and Vista.

Don't put any of that junk on a Vista computer! Although I use Avast I would
suggest you stay with Norton for virus/firewall.

No harm giving them a try. I see no reason not to use
the best in each product category. Integration? Unless
you wanna write programs....
