Using WIN XP HOME (Dell Version)

Hi, I've been to hell and back trying to download the latest firmware
updates. I goofed and downloaded an older version by mistake. I clicked
FLASH instead of EXIT.

Then when I restarted, I got an error message that WIN XP could not
certify the hardware and warned that continuing could cause problems. I
was heartbroken!

So I went back in and downloaded another, hopefully later version of
firmware. Same error message. But this time when I restarted, I ignored
the error message, and continued to let WINXP load the drivers for the
BenQ. Despite the dire warning, I no longer get an error message!

BUT, I do want to download the fastest FirmWare..but.I have no idea
which one it is. And getting help from BenQ, for an OEM/Bulk burner is
out of the question. Anybody with benQ DVD writers?

Thanks,

MIke

I don't know if this will be of any help, but I just bought a BenQ DVD-RW
last week. I got it from TigerDirect and when it arrived the Nero CD was
cracked. So, I call TigerDirect and they give me BenQ's phone number. For
what it is worth here is the number they gave me: 1-866-600-2367. Not sure
if this will get you anywhere but there you have it. HTH. Brian

According to the U.S. Benq website there is no firmware updates available
for this burner. Where did you get the firmware 'update' you used?

Did this drive come with a prebuilt system (ie Dell) or was it purchased as
a bulk drive from Tiger, Newegg, etc.?

r.
