Behavior retrieving MS Access mdb files now fails

I'm running XP SP3, FrontPage 2003, Access 2003.

While in an open FrontPage site on a remote Windows 2003 server I used to be
able to double-click mdb files and open them locally. Now I can't.

FrontPage status bar says "Retrieving..." endlessly until I stop it. The
FrontPage temp directory contains a zero byte mdb file.

Other local editors work as expected, including Word.

After installing XP SP3 I have removed and reinstalled both FrontPage and
Access, but to no avail. Any ideas where the problem might lie? Thanks.

Never open your mdb file on your sever or in your site
(you will lock up your server)
- always file Export it, Edit it, then File Import it back

The behavior is the same when Exporting the mdb file. "Retrieving" never
finishes.
Any other ideas?

It's possible that by trying to open the .mdb on the server that you created
a.ldb and the file is locked. Open your live site and see if there is a .ldb
in the fpdb folder - if there is, delete it.
