I am not sure why I was chosen but I try to use MS Outlook as part of my
Office 2003. I always had trouble with Outlook downloading duplicates of the
same e-mail, corrupted .pst files etc.

In February, I bought a new computer and also a New 2003 Office Package. I
set up outlook and out of necessity in talking with MS tech support, we blew
out my .pst file and started fresh. Yes, I lost 1000's of e-mail's.

Since day one, Outlook still downloads duplicates messages a few throughout
the day until I uncheck the "Save on Server" box.

Now, Stating this past week, Outlook refuses to download mail unless I
manually click on send/Receive. I mean not just at startup but the entire
time it is open. And, yes, the box is clicked to check for e-mail every 10
minutes.

Out of frustration, last night I uninstalled Office, did a defrag, registry
cleaner etc and then installed Office...and NO CHANGE...ZERO.

Also sarting 2 weeks ago I am getting a lot of "Relay Denied"returned
mail...and the settings are exactly the same as Outlook Express which does
not get them.

My Blackberry synchronizes well with it. The spam Filters work extremely
well......and Outlook Express just doesn't cut it as a viable alternative.

I have tried Pegasus, Thunderbird, Foxmail, Opera Mail, The Bat and more and
they are not the same. Gmail is great but I need more than a Web based e-mail.

Please help....any thoughts????

Thank you

Elliot

Using a Registry Cleaner can and will cause issues. That is the 1st thing that you need to get rid of.
Secondly are you using Norton or something similar to scan your incoming and outgoing emails? This should be disabled. It can cause duplicates and other issues. In some cases you will need to remove your Anti Virus and then re-install minus the email scanning Feature. Another probability can also be if using any anti spam filtering for email. This also should be disabled.

Thank you for responding.

Understood about the Registry cleaner.

For anti-Virus...I am using NOD 32 and you can only stop EITHER incoming or
Outgoing not both. I have tried Norton, Mcaffee, Kaspersky, Zone Alarm...you
name it and NOD works the best with the least amount of resources used.

For Spam Filtering, I have SpamBayes which is working well but we will see
if it eliminates any of the problems along with the other 2.

Regards

Elliot

After 6 hours nothing has changed.

Outlook is not sending/receiving automatically and I changed the setting to
5 minutes instead of 10.

As for the "Relay Denied" returns, I set the SMTP to my ISP's settings and
the mail would not go out of my outbox. I changed it back to the URL, the
same as my pop incoming and the mail is going out to most e-mail addresses.

Very Frustrating.

Just an observation;
Unless you deleted your old OL data file you have *not* lost your old mail

Post just what you're using for your account settings (but don't publish any
mail addresses, of course).

Good morning,

First, where would I find the OL data file????

For settings I have:

Incoming Mail server: mail.domainname.com

Outgoing: mail.domainname.com

User name and password are correct. My outgoing server requires
Authentification is checked. Ports are 110/25 and I have check the leave
messages on the server back on.

Mail setup has "schedule an automatic send/receive every 5 minutes"
checked...plus include this group in send/receive.

Make Outlook the default program is checked

These settings are EXACTLY the same as Outlook Express, which gets mail
every five minutes and has never has the "Relay Denied" message.

At the request of my ISP I changed the Port to 587 and the SMTP to
mail.myisp.net and the mail would not leave my computer. I went back to the
URL as the SMTP and most e-mail goes out...the Internationals don't go.

Thank you

Elliot

Outlook will tell you. FIle>Data File Management or Control Panel>Mail>Data
Files

Does your email address domain match the "domainname.com" that is on the
SMTP server setting? On the Outgoing Server tab, do you have "Use same
settings as my incoming mail server" selected?
