Well, here's an update.
I've just got the machine online- thanks to the help from Paul
Anderson. Turned out to be the laser unit. "Laser not in start
postition" was reported. So I opened it up and noticed there was a
spring-loaded metal bracket which was blocking the beam. There seemed
to be no attachments, mechanically speaking, to this assembly.Perhaps
they'd been removed by a previous tech or owner.
Next step was: I temporarily taped the lever into its other position,
thus allowing the beam to reach the rotating mirror, applied power
and...that did it!
Now I just need to know where I can download a driver for win98 or
2000 so I can test /use the machine more fully!
thanks for your time and help.
