Hi Everyone-

I'm fairly new here, but I have a question. I recently got a Belkin
wireless adapter for my laptop, a Dell Inspiron 2200. However, I unattached
the USB part of it so I could transport my computer. When I rehooked it up,
it said to reinstall Belkin, so I did. It then said to remove the "old"
Belkin software so I listened, and then it rebooted itself. Here's where the
trouble came in. At the startup menu, I received a message saying the
following:

bcmwltry.exe - unable to locate component
This application has failed to start because AegisE5.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

What application? I searched for AegisE5.dll and found it, but when I
double clicked it, microsoft said not to open it. Every time I click the ok
button on the error, it (the error box) reappears within 3-4 seconds. I
tried reinstalling Belkin multiple times, but it had no effect; the box just
reappears This error is driving me crazy and I don't know how to fix it.
Please help.

Where you found AegisE5.dll could give you a hint. Looking at the log here, my
guess would be that bcmwltry.exe is a service that gets started when you
boot into WIndows. BCM probably stands for Broadcom, the name of a wireless
chip supplier. At the end of this page, there is a "wltrysvc" service mentioned,
the "wl" is wireless.

There is some similar sounding fluff here.
http://www.auditmypc.com/process/wltrysvc.asp

I use Win2K on my computer, and what I'd look for, is
Control Panels:Administrative Tools:Services. In there,
services can be "disabled", "Manual", or "Automatic". It
could be that the one for wireless is "Automatic".

In your case, have a look through this, for some hints.
Somewhere, you have something that says to load the bcmwltry.exe
to provide the service, and the DLL it needs was not locatable
via whatever path variable it uses. That would be where I'd start
looking.

Just a guess,
Paul

Help others help you, please provide make/model number when inquiring about OEM
systems and/or devices. It will help those that may respond search on specific
issues related to the product.

bcmwltry.exe = Broadcom Corporation Wireless Network Tray Applet
Uninstall it to see if it resolves the issue and if your network connection works
without it don't reinstall it.

Uninstalled the software from control panel & reboot and with the USB
adapter disconnected. Does that still give the message.
If not then run the install as though you are connecting for the first time.

Worth a shot
