Business Contact Manager version 2 installed fine on my computer. But when I
tried to install it on my husband's computer, it was unsuccessful. I have
uninstalled the SQL Desktop Server (although the icon remains in the lower
right hand tray.) I have uninstalled and reinstalled Business Contact
Manager from my disk and also downloaded version 2 again. The error message
when I try to open the contacts is "object reference not set to an instance
of an object." What do I do now? (I am only moderately technically oriented.

I have not been running V2, we were running V1. Now I cannot even get V1 to
install properly. I get the same error message: Object reference not set to
an instance of an object.

I have unintalled V1, V2 and the SQL Desktop server three times now and
cannot even get just BCM V1 to install from the disk.

I did get the same error message. Subsequently I have paid a MS tech to
reinstall Office and BCM v 2. Everything is working now. Thanks.

Julie,

The error you were getting (object reference not set to an instance
of an object.) is EXACTLY what I am getting...plus Outlook won't work
properly thereafter. I have to un-install the whole mess and re-install just
Outlook to get anything back.

Do you know what the Tech did to get it installed? Or do you think I should
just contact MS tech too?

Thanks,

Jack

The technician uninstalled Microsoft Office and Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.
Then he installed Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix and Microsoft Office.
Finally, he installed BCM v2. It cost $35 and I was on the phone for 2 1/2
hours. You could probably do it yourself.
