Win 2000 pro - SP4 - I have installed/updated All Office products (and I mean
all) with Windows update, as well as the SP2 update for BCM and zSBA which I
also use, BUT BCM has never yet finalized when starting up Outlook 2003. I am
ready to pull out my hair.

Absolutely no word about this problem can be found by searching around.
I am using a MAP pack Licensed setup (October CD set) along with Windows
update and the invisible SP2 for BCM and SBA did not do a thing for Outlook.

Is there anyone else having smilar mesages and no startup (initial) or
otherwise?

Call Microsoft. Tell them SP2 is broken.

I had the same problem on one laptop. I wound up uninstalling, reboot, make
sure all updates are on. Reboot. Re-install BCM UPDATE, Install latest update
(search for updates check box), reboot, run outlook, fail, reboot, run
outlook. Magically MSDE is now connected.

Do you see the same problem with a new Outlook Profile?
Is .NET Framework 2.0 on your system?

Thanks!

Actually talked with 3 technicians to get this answer
download at this link:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;913695
====from the support persons email:
Lately we are getting a lot of calls on an error message in BCM V1 that
which states “Object reference not set to an instance of an Object. Contact
Business Contact Manger Support”

The customers do state that the issue occurs after applying update and all
of then do have the Outlook Security Update (KB892843) installed. Earlier we
were able to workaround the issue by asking customer to update to BCM V2
which did resolve the issue however a few of them used to get the error
message that states “Action could not be Completed” when opening Outlook with
BCM.

Now for the best part ……J the issue seems to be resolved by installing the
Post SP2 Hotfix (KB913695 and 913707) and it works like a charm. Here is the
link to download the hotfix

913695 get KB: Description of Outlook 2003 post-Service Pack 2 hotfix
package: January 23, 2006
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;913695

Do note this would also take care of the Action could be Completed Error in
BCM V2
