Hi,
I am looking to evaluate BCM, to see if it can be used to m anage contact
with our 1200 or so clients
Can some kind person advise me:
Will I be able to evaluate BCM on my laptop (Vista Business 2GB Ram with
oddgles of space) or do I need to install BCM as a server/client
application.
My laptop has Outlook 2007 already installed. I do have a copy of Outlook
2007 with BCM. If BCM can be run on laptop, do i need to uninstall existing
and reinstall or can I simply update using the Outlook 2007 BCM disk?

thanks
A

Alex,

You can run BCM as a stand alone client on your current laptop just fine
without using a server to evaluate. Also, no need to uninstall your existing
Outlook 2007 as long as it is part of the same Office 2007 Small Business or
Professional version that your BCM disk 2 came with. Just install BCM from
the disk (which will also install SQL Express) onto your current Outlook 2007
profile.

Hi, and thanks for your post

Just to be clear.

I have already installed the complete Office Professional Plus 2007 from
that CD (as part of my Action Pack) and it is installed in folder ..program
files/Microsoft Office

I have another Action Pack DVD with MS Office Outlook 2007 with Business
Contact Manager on it. It is Ok to run this to install Outlook 2007 with
BCM. I see that it wants to install it into another folder. Will the
installation routine see that there is a copy of Outlook 2007 already in
stgalled, albeit in another folder.

Apologies if this is a dumb question - i just dont want to screw anything up

Cheers

Alex

Outlook and BCM are seperate products vis-a-vis Setup program.

Once Outlook is installed on a machine, you can install and uninstall
BCM independently of Outlook.

Last I heard, most BCM users are single users on a single machine, so
that's what BCM is primarily designed for; Client/Server is an
additional feature. Shared databases appeared in V2, and a tool for
installing the database on a server only appeared with V3.
