I have spent hours trying to fix this problem. Here is the situation... I've
looked up this problem and determined it is a problem with BCM itself, not
SQL express. Though i have been wrong many times in the past, i'm pretty sure
we can rule out SQL. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything
multiple times and it all leads to the following: (yes, i'm going with a
list here)

-- When I start outlook, I get an annoying message, every time, saying
windows is configuring office pro hybrid 2007, this is after BCM is
installed. It also prompts this when I try to click on the BCM folder in the
folders view. Actually it does it multiple times and comes up with a "BCM
could not complete your last action(s)." After getting the error prompt 7+
times, everything is blank in the reading pane.

-- I can connect to & create a new database from the manage data files menu
and even get BCM to show up in the folders view. When i start outlook, it
does not ask me to configure BCM. I created a DB from the database tool and
it still doesn't load.

-- i've tried new mail profiles... same thing.

-- Everything is running fine with the SQL 2005 express, with updates. All
of the permissions are set and nothing is compressed.

-- No previous trial versions of operating systems have been installed on
this system.

-- My computer name did have a " - " in it but i changed the name so it
didn't have one... Don't know if that is a factor but saw it somewhere.

I am guessing it is my registry? that is a big ? and a bigger ;-(
Odd things I think i should mention. Under my program files, a folder named
Microsoft(184) popped up while uninstalling and reinstalling. And just
started having trouble uninstalling BCM from the Programs and Features menu.
(Says there are files it cannot find.) Also, the vba outlook addin
(outlvba.dll) comes up with an error and needs to be disabled everytime

My Computer:
Vista Ultimate
MS Office Professional 2007 (OEM --> they had no clue about what BCM is)
SQL Express Server 2005 w/ mgmt studio

I have no idea what hybrid means. I am guessing it is there because the
software includes a 64-bit version along with the 32-bit version... I am
running Vista Ultimate 32-bit and the software is activated and
authenticated.

Doubt this matters but, I purchased my computer and the office suite
together and installed the OS myself, the manufacturer didn't have the
Ultimate edition. I did try 64-bit at first but too many driver issues so I
formatted the HD and reinstalled 32-bit.

Forgot to ask...

Would having Quickbooks Pro 2006 installed effect it in any way? I
uninstalled it to test it out but did not reinstall outlook/bcm.

Also, are there specific "Windows Features" that should be activated and/or
not be activated?

I know there was a problem with a bug in a version of QB trashing
something in the Registry that would disable an ActiveX control BCM
depended on, but I hadnt heard of anything similar with BCM 2007.

However, if QB has any sort of Outlook add-in, that may be causing a
problem.

The other possibility is that the Office may not have the right
license to enable BCM. I don't recall BCM behavior in that scenario,
but I remember that it the messaging was very explicit about why BCM
wasn't loading. I think the intent with Office apps is that they
should go into read-only mode (e.g. can't save a document) when they
aren't properly licensed (e.g. the 60 evaluation period for the Office
bundled with new PCs expires). Outlook and BCM are too dynamic to say
what "saving a document" translates to exactly in that environment. I
know that Outlook won't save a new or edited Contact (without a
helpful message about the license). BCM needs to add properties to
Outlook objects and save them in the background (e.g. when a new mail
message for a contact in bcm arrives), and I don't know how that
problem is messaged to the user (Outlook background threads should not
pop-up UI).

uninstalled QB then did the reinstallation of BCM and its the same problem.
any suggestions regarding the Registry / ActiveX control or anything else? At
this point I am seriously considering reinstalling windows completely ;-( ;-(
