running vista and it will randomly crash with BSOD error BC Code 124, only
turning it off and on again works after such a crash. I have updated sound
drivers to no avail, it must crash at least 3 times in one 1hr session. Any
suggestions? please please not re install vista about to go to uni, can't deal
with the stress! thanks in advance to any replies.

Hi Sara,

Does the error message or the event viewer state what module is involved?
Is a dump file created?
How long has this been happening and did any system changes precede it?

hey thank you for reply. Yes it does create a dmp file but im unable to open
it. Windows reports it as the following:

Problem signature
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3
Locale ID: 2057

Files that help describe the problem (some files may no longer be available)
Mini091307-01.dmp
sysdata.xml
Version.txt

View a temporary copy of these files
Warning: If a virus or other security threat caused the problem, opening a
copy of the files could harm your computer.

Extra information about the problem
BCCode: 124
BCP1: 00000000
BCP2: 83AE35A0
BCP3: F2000040
BCP4: 00000800
OS Version: 6_0_6000
Service Pack: 0_0
Product: 768_1

I cannot think of any hardware or software changes first crash was in june
few months after purchasing, ive also noted internet explorer freezing &
restarting too. It seems to happen most when the system is overloaded by too
much video, audio from say a facebook profile or myspace page! I completed a
system restore (re installed just windows files) yesterday & the crashes have
so far been fewer.

Hi Sara,

Send the minidump file to me at the address used here using a subject line
of 'per req'. I'll take a look and see if it tells us anything about the
problem.
