I've had great success with the linksys BEFW11S4 (4 port wireless ap router)
both at home and at work. I've also used the BEFSR11 & BEFSR41 (1 port & 4
port non wireless routers) with much success. They will all do port
forwarding and
www.practicallynetworked.com tested the linksys models a few
years ago and they can handle about 4.5 Mbps on the WAN side. In a small
business environment (approx 40 to 50 users), I had only 1 problem unit (out
of 6 I have installed) and it was a problem only in that it had the same
problem yours does, but it only crapped out once every 6 months.

A quick review of our network goes as follows...
1 ADSL line 3 Mbps down, 640Kbps up
1 Speedstream 5667 DSL modem
1 SMC Barricade 7004VWBR Wireless Broadband router/NAT (wireless disabled,
newest BIOS)
1 Smartlink 5 port switch
3 Servers:
1 W2K Server Edition internet server for web, email, ftp, etc
2 internal servers for testing (running Linux)
3 Workstations - 1 W2K Pro, 1 Win98SE, 1 WinXP -- none of which really need
to talk to each other all that much, but need to share the internet
connection

Quick question: our SMC Barricade router keeps going down. All of a sudden
it will just up and stop routing internet traffic. it will still behave as a
switch/hub, but all internet traffic is lost. as is the ability to reach the
unit using web browser to configure, nor is it possible to ping the device.
This is a small business configuration with the internet server actually
serving our website and email and all i want is a fairly low cost, STABLE
router/NAT. We need the nat as there are a few workstations sharing the
internet connection as well as allowing the device to send incoming requests
to the Internet server. The SMC appears to be a perfect blend for this job,
but the frigging thing won't stay up for more than a few days at a time.
Does anyone have any advice as to what to move to in terms of a decent NAT
router and/or a better configuration all-around (other than not using DSL!!)
