I found this one; says it's addictive. It's for Windows, and it's
real-time, not turn-based:

I don't know if it will run on something later than Windows 95, though.

I like this one the best but it won't run well at all on Windows XP while it
did often run fine previously on Win 98SE with some versions of DirectX.

Any remedy please for Win XP?

I've only tried it on Windows 2000 with DirectX 9.0c; it seems to work
fine there. Maybe you can right click on the game .exe, select
Properties, and change the compatibility mode to an earlier version of
Windows. I've only heard you can do that, but have never tried it.
