This is a Gateway "Solo" laptop with Windows XP Professional. It currently has in its bay a second battery. The Powe
Meter window shows Battery #1, which I assume is the permanent battery, and Battery #2, which I assume is the on
in the Bay. However, the icon for Battery #2 is boxed, has the caption "Not Present," and has not power [energy]
indication.

Battery #1 has a rather short lifetime, and the presence of Battery #2 seems, according to the indicator and accordin
to usage, to increase the available time

This has been the case since the laptop was bought, and when I sent it back to Gateway, the techs said that they could
not reproduce the problem

Thanks for any suggestion
