battery notification

hello
my laptop now doesn't notify me anymore about the state of the battery, both
when it's critical or low. i already checked my power options advanced power
setting, and ensure that the low battery notification is switched on, but the
notification's still not working. can anyone suggest what should i do to make
it notify me again? because it's annoying when my laptop suddenly hibernates
without any warning. thank you.
