recently, sanyo came out with their eneloop line of batteries. i am not exactly sure what kind of rechargeable batteries they are (they say it's ni-mh) but it can store energy for long, long periods of time. in fact, you can use it straight off the pack. i think it might be some hybrid ni-mh/li-ion type battery, but i can't tell for sure. needless to say, i use eneloop for all my battery grips (for my dslr) and for my hotshoe flashes.
