Hello. I have about 20 employees each working on their own computers and I
would like to be able to programatically remove Windows Messenger every time
they log onto Windows. Ideally, this script would

A) Send an email to our IT Staff if Windows Messenger is installed
B) Uninstall it if it is
C) Send an email to our IT Staff if Windows Messenger is successfully
uninstalled

Is this possible?

Hi - I replied in m.p.windowsxp.security_admin. Please don't multipost - if
you need to post to multiple groups, it's best to crosspost instead, by
posting a single message to a handful of relevant groups (separate the NG
names with commas) so that everyone can follow the thread. Thanks :-)

Please don't multipost.. Crosspost if you feel it is relevant.

If you feel your question is relevant to more than one
newsgroup, crosspost. The multiposting thing is annoying at best
and is the least efficient way for you to ask and others to answer/read the
question/answers.

You could remove windows messenger in a startup script more easily.
As your users should not be running around with administrative rights
anyway - once is all that is needed.
It could be made into a logon script, sure... But the users would have to
have the rights needed to do such an act.

I've used this VBS script with good results:

It doesn't do the reporting part, but it sure removes it.
