Please give me some suggestions for a cpu cooling system for Barton 2500
processor (air). I would somehow prefer something not very heavy. I dont
have mounting holes in my motherboard (Gygabite 7vm400-AMF).

I've done some google searches but the results I've got are very confusing.

Thank you.

The retail-boxed CPUs come with a heatsink and fan. Use that if you
haven't yet bought your CPU. Otherwise see the product reviews at
newegg, tigerdirect, etc. and the forums at nforcershq.com etc.

Yeah, unless you're really into silent systems or overclocking, the stock
fan is fine for this processor. Been running for over a year now on mine

Hi,

I've got a Barton 2500 installed and using its stock HSF. It's quiet and
running at 28 degrees C. One of the very nice features of the new AMD
processors is that they don't run at full speed most of the time. Several
years ago with the first Athlons the fans were screaming at 5000 + rpm. To
me that was a painfully noisy drawback.

I am very impressed by the SPEEZE - 5F286B from NewEgg. $13 including
shipping. I have recently replaced two AMD stock fans (the first 6 weeks
ago on an AMD 2200 and another two days ago on an AMD 2700). The temp of
both CPUs dropped by 6-8 degrees.

It has an 80 mm fan that runs slow and quiet. It is heavier than the
stock fan and wider at the top. I had no trouble installing it but there
may be a motherboard out there that it will not fit.
