David,
You'll need a Bar Code font that interprets your string into bar code.
Check th web for Access compatible bar fonts. I think there may even be
some freebies out there, depending on your particular bar code system.

I have no idea what dll your using. There are many barcode schemes out
there. Some are just fonts (my preference), others barcode by function (ex.
BarcodeThis([YourDataField]), and many others.
If your dll provides a font, it should be in the font list on report
design. Place a text control on your report and specify the barcode font
for the controls font property. Whatever data is contained will display as
barcode on print preview.
Sounds like you may have a Function in the DLL for barcoding. In that
case, you must follow the instructions provided with the dll itself. (how to
install it, how to "call" it, etc..)

Barcodes mean

1) a means of reading them. These devices usually fit between your
keyboard and your computer and mimic someone keying in the code
directly. All you need to do in your app is a little forms design to
ensure someone can continuously feed bar codes into your app and
change the quantity occasionally.

2) A means of printing them. Choose the proper barcode and locate an
appropriate font. Place the font file on all the systems which will
be printing bar codes. On the report(s) change the font on a field to
use the bar code font. Some bar codes like having *s before and after
while others like check digits.

For more info and links see the Using bar codes within an application
page at my website at http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/barcode.htm

The best way to add bar codes to an Access database report is to use a
bar code ActiveX control. The best one on the market is available from
TAL Technologies. You can download a demo version from the following
page on their web site:
http://www.taltech.com/products/activex_barcodes.html
The demo version of the ActiveX control comes with a sample Access
database that contains several reports that show how to use the
control in Access reports and labels.
