Is there any way of forcing the banner graphic from a theme to fit the full
width of the display? It looks odd being a fixed size.

yes, you can, with images: set the width to a %age of the screen width rather
than a pixel amount

It looks as though Stefan is right - the file in question, astrbane.gif, is
an animated gif from the themes collection; I can not find a page to change
the width to % of screen and looking at the gif file directly, there would be
wider implications due to the animation. Thanks, all for the suggestions,
though!
