Banding in Vuescan 8

When I scan 6X9 or 4X5 B&W negs in Vuescan 8 on my Polaroid 45 Ultra
using the AN glass negative holder I get horizontal banding. It is
spaced pretty far apart in the 6X9 scan, so that there are only about
6-8 bands on the neg. but on the 4X5 they are close together, and show
up mainly in the shadows. Silverfast 6 produces bandless scans, on
the other hand.
