BAD_POOL_HEADER Error at Startup

Ok, so I upgraded from SP1 to SP2 and when the system
restarted, I got the blue screen with BAD_POOL_HEADER on
top and it did a memory dump and restarted and kept going
to the blue screen and restarting over and over. I
figured out what was causing it though. When I unplugged
my NETGEAR MA111 wireless USB adapter, the system started
up fine. If I reattach the adapter to my USB port, it
crashes right back to the BAD_POOL_HEADER screen
immediately. This adapter worked fine under SP1 and I
need it to connect to my DSL connection. Any ideas on
why it is causing this to happen with SP2 and not SP1?

Tom,

please have a look at http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm. It
could be that you run on an AMD 64 bit processor or that the
driver has a fault that appears only when exercized by SP2.

Tom,
This is my "exact" problem! Have you found a solution
short of an uninstall of SP2? Many thanks.

This is exactly the same issue for me on a refreshly built system with
the Netgear MA111 USB card. Windows XP SP2 and the MA111...Not working
together.

Well done MS!

Regards
Warren

Warren,

you may be barking up the wrong tree. The fault is most likely
in the Netgear driver.

What processor does the computer run on? Athlon 64, by any
chance?

You could look into http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm for
details.
