Bad shortcuts

I've just discovered two shortcuts on my screen which weren't there before.
Clicking on them does nothing. I tried to delete them with a right-click,
delete and the error said Cannot delete file: "Cannot read from the source
file or disk." Another right-click > Properties, "Shortcut" tab says for
the Target Type "This is not a valid shortcut."

How can I delete them and most interestingly, what created them?

Mike

More than likely a virus or spyware or adware or some such. Try to start up
in Safe Mode and delete them in Safe Mode. If that doesn't delete them then
run an anti-virus scan and spyware scan.

Press the F8 key continually after BIOS exits to get into Safe Mode.

They may have been created when you installed a program from the CD
