Hi,
I have a pc with xp home. It was runnning fine. I downloaded sp2 and it
stopped responding at the cleaning up stage. I did an alt cntrl delete to
restart the pc and now it just keeps restarting. I have selected safe mode,
last known good config and stop reboot when windows has an error. All with no
success. I either get a blue screen stated," stop: c0000221 bad checksum. The
image comdlg32.dll is probably corrupt. The header checksum does not match
the computed checksum or it just keeps restarting.
Thanks,
John

You will find a discussion of this error code, and how to attempt a recovery
at http://aumha.org/a/stop.htm

By the way, this stop code is used by a lot of different sources. Be sure
that you select the one which fits your problem.

Hi Jim, Thanks for the response. I am trying to do a Windows repair and it is
asking for an Administrator password. I don't remember setting one or knowing
one. It is a Toshiba laptop. Does anyone know if Toshiba has and Adminstrator
password used during build.
John
ps how do I install the missing or corrupt dll ? I can't boot into safe mode
or any of the other choices.

All XP systems have a default account called Administrator; unless you
disabled it, it is still active. Unless you changed the password, it
remains blank.
Thus, when you need to login to this account, when XP asks for the password,
just press the enter key.
The Administrator account can be renamed (usually by you), but it cannot be
deleted by anybody.
