Was Outlook closed or open when you install it?

Hi Brian!

I'm having the same problem, I tried installing the pfbackup 3 times, with
Outlook closed... and nothing happened... I checked pfbackup info and the OS
supported don't mention Windows 7... is there any other backup sw compatible
with Outlook 2007 and Windows 7... or is there a way to make pfbackup work in
win 7??

Thanks!

Hi!

I just solved the problem. I leave this to help anyone with the same
trouble. What I did was:
1) Install the pfbackup
2) It won't appear in the list on Outlook
3) I start Outlook and go to Tools/Trust Center
4) Select the Add Ins tab, go down to COM and select add
5) Select add again in the new window, and browse to a directory similar to
this:
c:\program files\microsoft office\office12\addins
6) select the file: outbak.dll
7) voila! the option now appears on the File menu and works perfectly.

Good luck!

I tried these steps, but it still didn't work. Also, right after downloading
and installing the pfbackup, when I opened Outlook I got a message saying
there was a serious problem with that add-in, and Outlook then disabled it.
Has anyone figured out a way around that?

I have no idea what you are saying in response to Steve. Is there a fix for
using the Outlook Backup Tool with Windows 7? Or is the fix Giancarlo wrote
a jury-rig that works when it wants to and doesn't for most of us? Has
Microsoft weighed in on this?

There's nothing particularly special about the Outlook Backup Tool. All it
does is copy the PST. You can do that yourself. Close Outlook, copy the PST,
all done.
