Thanks for the response. Well, that told me alot, but I'm not sure how to fix it.
I'm getting a set of four error messages...
1) SCM - Removable Storage Manager startup 7035
2) RSM stopped 98
3) SCM - RSM service entered stop state 7036
4) DCOM - server did not register with DCOM
Seems it's looking for removable storage. The same thing happens
when I run the MS Management Console and click on Removable
Storage. After a few seconds it goes to Not Responding in the
Task Manager/Applications window.
Besides my CD-ROM and CD-RW, I also have an HP DVD Movie
Writer dc5000, which is a USB external device. I also have a
USB reader for my digital camera. I've disconnected both, and
uninstalled my DVD writer SW. Still not responding. Now what?
