Backup from Vista to XP

I installed Vista and then made a full backup set using backup and restore. I
have now gone back to XP and have the Vista backup set but the XP backup
program is not compatible with my backup set. Is there a program out there
that can help me. I can get individual files but they are not in an organized
state. Ex. I would have to organize 32,000 photo files that where already
organized. Any solutions out there?

The solution is probably too late, and that would have been to use a
dedicated backup program, eg Acronis
A backup is no good if you cannot recover from it; to other systems

I know I am too late for a commercial program. I still have the global
catalogue file for this backup - isn't that good for anything?

Here's a workaround. Get another hard disk ($50-$70), remove the original
disk and install the new one, reinstall Vista, and restore that backup.

Next, attach your XP drive, and just copy the files over.

When done, shut down, remove the Vista drive and reattach the XP drive.

Before you wipe your new backup drive (the one that now has Vista on it),
be sure that the files are where you want them to be.

You may also want to get an external USB2 case for your new drive.
