I have WinXP HE on my Sony VAIO, and I'm trying to
install the Backup utility. Didn't get installation CD
with PC, and i386 directory doesn't seem to have it. Is
this utility not standard issue in OEM versions? I would
think that this is a basic feature that everyone wants.
Please help!

You'll need to contact Sony and ask them why they thought that you don't need it.

I recently had a similar problem. I went to the start
tab, then to search. Typed in "back up" and there were
several files there, found the correct one and the
install wizard started up and installed it. Then it was
found on the systems tools files. I hope this may help
