backup utility problem

I did a backup of a drive and transferred it to cds (using hjsplit). One of
the cds (the 1st in the set) turned out to be bad and the data is lost on
it.

The drive itself crashed recently (I just found out that the 1st backup disk
is bad).

Is there a way to get the data from the rest of the disks?

Help appreciated.

You might be able to retrieve the data on your first cd
by using ISObuster

Although I don't have an answer for your problem, there is an important
lesson here for all those who keep backups of their system. It doesn't
matter how aciduous you are at taking regular backups or how thourough your
backup regime is, it is of no use whatsoever if you are unable to restore
your backup because there is no mechanism to restore to an empty new disk;
any part of the backup is unreadable or corrupted or the restored image will
not run. The ability to restore the backup should be tested before undue
reliance is placed on the backup system.

Basically: the time to discover that your backup plan is flawed *is not*
when you desparately need to restore it in anger following a disk failure.
