Backup Utility for Outlook directions for use

It would be very helpful to expand upon the directions for use of the backup
utility when restoring a lost or corrupted data file. The current
documentation simply says open the backup file but that's not enough: when
one clicks on 'open backup file' (using the backup utility), one is
confronted with multiple data files. One of the helpful folks in this
newsgroup explained to me that the appropriate file is the one labeled
"Outlook Backup"; makes sense for sure but it'd be nice if the documentation
said that and went on to explain that the other file generally displayed,
"Outlook" is actually the name of the file backed up in "Outlook Backup";
further that other files displayed in the "open backup" are for other user
created personal files. And it'd sure be a more professional job if these
were shown with the names of the actual user name for the folder rather than
"personal folder(1)".

There is no reason to use the backup utility to restore a backup. Simply
add the backup (or a copy) to your mail profile, either in Control Panel's
Mail applet or in Outlook with File>Open>Outlook Data File.

One is confronted with any PST that exists in the default folder.

Only if that's what you configured the backup utility to use.

It shows you the file system name of the file. It can't show you a
"username".

You can name the backup file (within the utility) most anything you like.
If you backup Outlook3 it will be called Outlook3 Backup (By default)
or JohnsData becomes JohnsData Backup
