An update; I installed Win2k in another directory on this machine and
my backups are running right now. Media management doesn't even work
in XP. If I put a tape in the drive while Win2k is running, whithin a
few minutes some windows service or other will read the tape data.
Then I can manage the tapes from "Computer Management" XP never even
does this.
It seems to me there is something major missing in XP on this front.
