When trying to do a full backup to Travan 10/20GB tape
using the Windows "backup" app the tape seems
to "dissappear" from the removable storage device.
What i mean is the backup starts, and files are being
copied to the tape (this continues to work for a few
hours or so) then with no warning it just ends the
backup (occurs both with manual backup and scheduled)
The backup is incomplete with the log showing the
point/file where it stopped.
If i then check the status of the Tape Drive in removable
storage manager it says the drive is empty.
If one then manually pulls out the tape, and insert the
same or different tape, the removable storage then lists
the tape as being in the drive.
The tape can sit in the drive inactive all day and it
seems to still staying the removable storage list of the
TAPE drive, only disappears after a few hours a backup
has been running for, and almost always before the backup
finishes
Any ideas what is going on here?
