      13th Aug 2005
i will be getting a laptop soon & would like to make a backup of my
initial windows, without all the extra security files, what software
can i use being as i cannot use norton ghost that i have on floppy disk
"no floppy drive on laptop" & i do not want to buy & install norton 9
on my hard drive.

anyone know of any software that will run of a cd.

Acronis TrueImage works well. You can make a bootable cd with it. Then
get an external hard drive because you need a place to store the image.
Once you get your laptop set up the way you want, boot with the Acronis
cd and create the image, storing it on your external hard drive.

I use Acronis also, and I love it. But, I believe that there is an option
within Ghost to do the same thing (create a bootable CD). Maybe a search of
the Ghost website will show you how?
