Backup original WinXP Home disc

After a recent crash I tried to re-install Windows XP Home from a
backup CD I made when I first bought XP. The backup failed to work
even though I had verified it ok. I eventually reinstalled from the
original disc.

Is there freeware to make a copy?

It is legal here in the UK to make a backup copy for one's own use.
