I get this message when Itry to back-up to CD RW "the disk in this recorder
is not the proper media for this project". I was getting the same message
with another type of CD. I figured if I changed the CD type it would resolve
the issue but it did not. I am hoping it does not mean I need to switch to a
tape backup. I am not sure if I have the budget for that. Any suggestions.

Which backup application are you using and are you selecting the CD drive? Of
course to select it the backup app has to detect/recognize it.

Are you trying to use the built-in XP backup program to write to a CD? It
does not have that capability.

It's perhaps the weakest possible backup program available. I recommend
using a third-party one instead. I personally like Acronis True Image, and I
use it back up to an external USB hard drive.

That page is apparently mistaken in this case.
