BACKUP to hard drive

I tried using Backup on Win2k to backup a few folders to another drive
and scheduled it to do a differential backup twice a week.

A couple of months later I checked the size of the bkf file in the
drive and it had grown to 4 gigs. What is going on? The size of the
folders I was backing up was around 350 megabytes.

I attempted to do a test restore and when checking off the folders to
restore I found dozens of folders with question marks in them.
I started the restore and it indicated it would need 24 hours to
complete.
Upon cancelling the restore and checking the restore folder there were
mostly folders which weren t on my restore file list.

Is there a decent third party backup software available that works?

When doing an unattended backup you need to ensure your
doing an overwrite not an append, that's why your file is
growing.

Why use ntbackup.exe to back up your files to another disk when
you could use xcopy.exe? It its far easier to use than ntbackup,
and retrieving files from backup is a piece of cake!
