Backup hard drive to CD-RW

Vista Home Premium has "backup" capability, backing up hard drive (and
registry?) to a CD. Last time I successfully backed up was 3 months ago.
Software has been added since that time. Now a backup attempt results in
failure, with a Vista error message "the configuration registry database is
corrupt (0x800703F1)". I have not been able to track down this exact error
message on MSFT's technical database. Are there any suggestions how to best
work around this error message? Many thanks,
