No, the ASR process uses a floppy drive. There is no way around it.
Ntbackup is a legacy app from Windows NT. Even with the floppy I found the
restore process cumbersome and not reliable. Long ago I moved to a drive
imaging program, saving the images on an external, USB connected hard drive.
Currently I recommend Acronis True Image Home, version 10. It can create
compressed images on a drive and partition basis. Images can be full,
incremental or differential, cutting down on the time/space for subsequent
images. Restores can be done on a file, partition or drive basis. It also
does file backup and disk cloning.
