Backup files to Apple Airport AirDisk fails, error 0x80070057

The file backup software (Control Panel -> Backup and Restore Center ->
Create backup copies of your files and folders) can't connect to a disk on an
Apple Extreme 802.11n base station. The error dialog reads "The network
share could not be accessed for the following reason: The parameter is
incorrect. (0x80070057)"

The Airport is set up with a disk password, airport disks guest access is
not allowed, and it has a workgroup name.

The odd part of this is that I can map the disk from both the command line
and via the Windows Explorer Tools -> Map Network Drive menu item.
Unfortunately the backup interface requires that the network drive be
specified as a UNC path and will not accept the mapped drive letter.

Any suggestions?

Airport Extreme 802.11n, Version 7.3.1
Windows Vista Business Edition, SP1
