Well, yes, I did think of that, and it was running. I finally reformatted
the drive and started over, after which things started working again.
I'm sure it was, in fact, operator error. I had been changing some security
attributes on files on that device and must have inadvertently touched
something critical to the backup process. So I have only myself to blame.
I'd still suggest, though, if you want to really make this brain dead
simple--which is a good goal--put out useful error messages. (At LEAST in the
event log.) What good is "path not found"? Which path? Was it really "path
not found" or "access denied"?
