I have windows xp home. I did a backup of my 1st hard
drive and put it on my second hard drive. When I did the
restore process, it restored everything (at least that
I've seen so far) but the ms office programs. It restored
all the office icons and shortcut bar but when I try to
open any of the programs it says "The requested
application has not been installed for the current user.
Please run setup to install the program."

Most of the programs were restored without having to
reinstall them. One or two I did have to reinstall. I
have the disk for ms office xp but I can't find the
product key.

Tina;
You need to locate the Product Key.
It is normally on the package the CDs are kept.

Otherwise if Office is retail contact Microsoft:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=326246

If Office is OEM, contact the seller Microsoft may not be able to
help.

So there's no hope to restore it without reinstalling it
with the key? I'm pretty sure that I've lost the key and
I don't want to wait until Monday to get a response from
ms support.

Tina;
Applications can not normally be backed up, they need to be
reinstalled.

The number on the link should work 7 days a week IIRC.
