How to backup critical updates?

Good day,
I have a slow dial up system.
I need to save my critical .
Is there a way to save the updates as well as any other type MS update
(after downloading & installing) to a cd/dvd so i dont have to wait for ever
if I need to reformat or come back from a system crash.
