I have a backup of my main computer. It contains my docs and, as I
understand it, it also had settings from my desktop and other programs
I use such as Agent and Thunderbird, my email and Usenet programs

My main computer has XP pro. I wanted to install these settings on my
laptop. My laptop has XP home (Dell).

Can I do this?

I really hate setting up a new computer the way I like it again.

Thank you for your time.

This is what the file & settings transfer wizard is for, but it does require
that the source system be running. You can't use it from a backup disk.

Well I gave it a try, but it is very disapointing. I use the classic
view. XP did not change that. I use classic views with details using
explorer. XP didn't change any of that either. I the quick launch
bar. XP didn't change that.
