Your disk might be full

Please note that writing whole messages in upper case makes
you unpopular in newsgroups. Such posts are hard to read
and this habit is usually referred to as "shouting". Respondents
do not like being shouted at.

Hi Barry,

First off, (if you don't have any visual difficulties) try not posting your
messages to any forum in caps. Most people identify caps type messages as
being SHOUTING. Its considered to be rude.

Secondly, System Restore has a limit for the number of restore points it can
save to the harddisk. How many restore points can be saved - depends on the
amount of drive space allocated to its folder on the drive. Generally,
after about 90 days - older restore points are removed, to make room for
newer more recent ones.

Hope this explanation helps.

"System Restore" lets you modify its settings so that you
have more or fewer restore points. It sounds as if your
settings are too tight.

As i'm a novice re computers..I only found one setting for "backup & restore"
which was a slider that I have maxed out. If there are other settings, can
you please direct me as to where they are?

Hi Barry,

First thing to do is check an make sure only the drive/partition Windows is
installed on is being monitored. Disable all but monitored drives/partitions
other than the one Windows is installed on.

How to disable a monitored drive:
http://bertk.mvps.org/html/drivedisable.html

When the amount of free disk space falls below 50 MB on ANY monitored drive,
System Restore switches to standby mode and stops creating restore points.
All restore points are deleted at that time. System Restore reactivates and
resumes creating restore points as soon as 200 MB of disk space is free on
the system drive.

Another possibility is that the amount of space set to hold restore points
is set to low. A good starting point is 1 GB (1000 MB's)

How to Adjust the amount of disk space System Restore uses to hold restore
points:
http://bertk.mvps.org/html/diskspace.html

Here are a couple more related pages.

Troubleshooting missing restore points:

Bert
Thank you very much...I believe you gave me enough info to correct my
problem. I had total of 3 drives that were being monitored. I turned of two
that I would never use backup & restore on.
Your answers were consise and to the point. Again, thank you very much.
