Would Symantec Norton Ghost version 6 be ok for the backing up , seeing it
is an old version ? It definitely can be used to clone a harddrive , I'm
just wondering if anybody can remember any problems with the version . It's
selling very cheaply . Meanwhile I'll go do an internet search .

Believe DI6 uses that for a basis for its boot floppies as an example. I
did use that for awhile myself. When I found that there may be problems
recovering some nonspecific NTFS (XP version) partitions with that, I went
to DI7. That uses Windows PE based recovery CD. What I don't like about it
is I can't image from it, only recover. And yes, in XP's environment, its
probably much faster for imaging anyway. Just miss this option.

Remember reading its possible to access a USB connected hard drive in dos if
the bios has the capability of booting from it. Otherwise, no.
