My cpu crashed and I lost everything so I purchased a new computer and it did
not come with the disk management utility or a setup/operating disk (dell
does not give those out anymore). My cpu did not come with an A: drive so
how do I create back up disks? I'm computer illiterate, please help!!

Read the manual. If no manual is available, then download
it from Dell's website...Dell is pretty good about this. The
manual and quick setup guide should tell the user how to burn
the backup Windows XP cdrom.

Acronis true image 9 lets you back up or "image" a partition/drive.
Your Dell would have come with a "recovery" partition or CD which when used
sets everything back to the day you purchased it.
You need to safe your work files to CD/r/rw............do you have one??
In order to be positively safe you can use True Image to "clone" your HD
onto another HD(Might have to buy one and hook it up) after which you place
that HD in a safe Place.Any changes to your present HD can be incrementally
cloned so its always up to date.When your original OS or HD crashes you just
replace it with the cloned drive and your up and running in minutes
There are other products that do the same thing..I just like TrueImage.

By the terms of the OEM licence, Dell HAS to give you a method of
returning your machine to factory-gate state. Look in your User Manual. If
Dell have omitted to give you a restore disk, then ask them for one.

u can move the floppy (A) drive from ur old computer to ur new pc.so each
nith u can back up book marks & e mail to a floppy.if theres a place marked
on front of ur pc that looks like it could hold a A drive great.if not then u
learn to live with out a floppy drive. : (
