Backing up to a Network Drive

Hi,

I'm trying to back up to a network drive using Windows Vista's Backup. The
Backup utility only shows attached USB drive but not my network drive, even
though the documentation indicates that I should be able to as long as the
permissions allow it. The network drive is visible and accessible in Windows
Exporer and I can even back up to it using Norton 360. That program however
lacks the Backup Entire Computer option, so I'd rather use Windows Backup.

How can I accomplish that?

Thanks

First, copy the old ntbackup.exe stuff from a working Windows XP.
Here's how:

Then backup to a file. In the little list of backup destinations
choose file and you'll be presented with the traditional little Browse button.
Choose a directory on the drive you want and name the file something.bkf
so ntbackup can find it next time :-)

Don't use the wizard! Just click the backup tab at the top.

Thanks, Wharf Rat. I'll give it a try.

If I do backup the entire system and then later get a hard drive crash, what
would be the procedure to restore it from the network drive? I'm assuming
that if Backup cannot see it then Restore cannot either. Also, all I would
have in this case would be a new formatted drive. I couldn't find any
reference in the on-line help as to how to go about that. Do you know of any
articles that address this issue?

Thanks again.
